Day 2 - Adelaide to Flinders Ranges (B, L, D)

You are about to be immersed in a folkloric pocket of Australia where legends were born. Your outback Eco Safari begins when you head north from Adelaide along the coast through Port Wakefield and Port Germein, then onwards to the southern Flinders Ranges and Mount Remarkable National Park.

It's here you will explore 600 million year old mountain peaks and enjoy gorgeous views over Spencer Gulf before venturing further through picturesque Pichi Richi Pass and Quorn - once the starting point of the original Ghan Railway.

Day 3 - Flinders Ranges & Lake Eyre (B, L, D)

Today, prepare for a flight you'll never forget! Your first breathtaking scene is the Flinders Ranges from above, as you head toward the awesome spectacle of Wilpena Pound and Brachina Gorge, before tracking north to the fabled inland salt pan of Lake Eyre. Fly over Parachilna, Leigh Creek and Lake Harry. Land at the outback town of William Creek and experience lunch at this remote pub.

Day 4 - Bunyeroo & Brachina Gorges (B, L, D)

After taking in the incredible beauty of the natural amphitheatre that is Wilpena Pund, today you'll learn more about the unique geology of the area as you explore Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges - home to some of the oldest rock formations and fossils on earth.

Day 5 - Flinders Ranges to Adelaide (B, L)

The journey back to Adelaide descends the magnificent Southern Flinders Ranges, towards the acclaimed wine country of the Clare Valley - where you'll enjoy a personalised tour and tasting at Sevenhill Winery.

Days 6-7 - Adelaide (Leisure Days) (B)

The next two days are yours to enjoy a stroll around Adelaide's shopping district or take a tram to Glenelg, a beautiful beachside suburb. Why not book a day trip to explore the state's famous wine growing regions.

Day 8 - Board The Ghan in Adelaide (B, L, D)

Today you will board the magnificent Ghan, which will transport you to the extremes of the continent. Your journey will include fine food and wine, amazing excursions, sumptuous comfort and wonderful camaraderie with your fellow travellers.

In Alice Springs, you can choose to tour the town's historic Telegraph Station and Royal Flying Doctor Service, visit the fabulous Alice Springs Desert Park and Simpsons Gap or perhaps take an option camel ride or scenic flight.

Day 10 - The Ghan (Katherine & Darwin) (B, L)

When the landscape transforms into rocky gorges and fast-flowing canyon streams, take your pick of cruising an ancient gorge or visiting a cattle station (seasonal) in Katherine, ahead of your arrival into Darwin after an unforgettable, memory-packed journey.

Platinum Service (twin and double share):

Boasting deluxe extras such as Platinum Transfers, in-cabin breakfasts and access to the Platinum Lounge and Restaurant, Platinum Service promises and delivers a journey beyond expectations. The first thing you'll notice about your Platinum cabin is the abundance of space, almost twice the size of a Gold Twin Cabin. By day your cabin is configured as a private lounge with deluxe lounge seating, a table and two ottomans. By night you'll sleep easy as the lounges convert to a comfortable bedroom with either a double bed or twin beds.

Gold Superior (double share): Limited cabins available

A Superior cabin in Gold Service is a unique way to travel. You'll enjoy private accommodation together with all-inclusive dining, beverages and a range of fascinating off-train excursions.

Gold Superior cabins feature a ¾ size double bed plus an additional fold down upper berth, lounge area, TV and DVD player, mini-bar and en suite. In-cabin music channels and journey audio commentary are available and power outlets can be found in cabins.

Gold Service (Single and twin share):

You'll enjoy private cabin accommodation together with all-inclusive dining, beverages and a range of fascinating Off Train Excursions at key stops. Gold Service accommodation is available in both single and twin-share so you can choose to travel with your partner, friends or roll solo.

During the day, the compact Twin Berth Sleeper Cabins offer a comfortable three seater lounge, converting to an upper and lower sleeping berth at night. And with top notch service from our hospitality attendant, you'll enjoy fresh sheets, bath towels, pillows, doonas and complimentary toiletries. Twin Berth Sleeper Cabins have private en suite facilities with a hide-away compact toilet, wash basin and shower. 

Can I fly out the same day as the train arrives? We highly recommend that guests do not book flights same day as arrival without allowing for late running trains. This would mean allowing for at least 3-5 hours after the scheduled arrival time, and an overnight stopover.

How much luggage can I take with me? Guests should bring an overnight bag to their cabin containing everything needed for the journey. Each guest travelling are entitled to checked in luggage, however checked in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey. In Gold service guests are allowed 2 bags x 30kg and guests travelling in Platinum Service are allowed 3 bags x 30kg.

Can I take any pets or animals with me on-train? No - the only animals permitted on GSR services are specially trained dogs for the vision and hearing impaired.

Can I take my walking frame/wheelchair/ scooter on board the train? No - these items must be checked-in as stored luggage. A specially modified pushchair can be requested for use on train (with the assistance of a Carer or travelling companion) - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

What medical assistance do the on-train staff provide? Staff are trained to administer basic first aid, however our staff are not able to provide routine medical aid during a journey. Guests requiring medical attention or mobility assistance on board any of our trains are required to arrange for their own Carer to travel with them.

Can my necessary medication be refrigerated? Yes subject to space within our on-board fridge compartments - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Can I take oxygen onboard? Yes - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Does the train carry power outlets for CPAC machines? Cabins on the Indian Pacific have 240V power outlets installed which can be used for a CPAC machine. It is recommended that a surge arrestor/protector be used to protect the machine when it is plugged in case of a power surge.

Do I need any cash or credit cards onboard? As the rail journeys are all-inclusive you will not need to buy anything unless you choose to purchase an Off-Train Excursion upgrade or souvenirs, which you can do onboard utilising our EFTPOS or credit card facilities.

Dress Code onboard the train? Smart casual attire is suggested for guests travelling in Platinum Service and Gold Service. Warm clothes are recommended for evenings onboard the train, as the air-conditioning can be cool. It is recommended that guests pack a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes for off-train touring. Sensible shoes are advisable for walking between carriages. Long, sturdy pants may be required for some Off-Train Excursions.
