Departing 18 August, 2020 on the Azamara Quest – Amsterdam to Dublin

Set sail from the canal city of Amsterdam, spending the day with Rembrandt and Van Gogh before embarking on your intensive voyage to Scotland.

Spend your evening and following day indulging in inclusive amenities and globally inspired dining experiences aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Arrive in historic Edinburgh for an action-packed overnight stay. Here, the big event is the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a commanding performance of international bands, dancers, drill teams and skirling bagpipes—all taking place against the dramatic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. (Please note: tickets for this date must be arranged separately.)

In Aberdeen, discover pub-lined medieval streets dotted with granite architecture and centuries-old castles. Then it’s on to Invergordon, an incredible destination that houses some of the world’s most famous whiskey distilleries. Secluded and seaswept, the Shetland Islands offer a unique blend of Scandinavian and Scottish culture.

From Kirkwall discover the walls of St. Magnus Cathedral and Neolithic village of Skara Brae. A late stay in Stornoway—the gateway to the Outer Hebrides—gives you plenty of time to tour the grounds of historic Lews Castle and grab a pint (or two) in this picturesque port. An evening at sea will rejuvenate you for the next leg of your journey: Oban, where you can explore the magnificent Inveraray Castle.

Colorful row houses and red-hulled fishing vessels line the shores of this picturesque port. The largest town in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway serves as a gateway to the Western Isles. Discover quaint independent bookstores, homestyle bakeries, and traditional pubs. Dine on fresh-caught seafood. Stroll the grounds of historic Lews Castle on this Islay adventure.

Conclude your journey in Glasgow, where history buffs will be wowed by Victorian architecture and Scotch aficionados can sample a wee dram of Highland Scotch during a tour of the famed Glenmorangie distillery.

Day 1 – Amsterdam

With more canals than Venice, Amsterdam is a winding wonder of waterways just waiting to be explored. Whether by boat or by foot, learn about the city's past inhabitants such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Anne Frank. You'll soon discover there's so much more to Amsterdam than windmills and wooden shoes.

Day 2 – At Sea

Spend the day sailing in style aboard your boutique hotel at sea. Indulge in a treatment at Sanctum Spa, stay ship shape with a class at our fitness center, or lounge the day away on our sunny pool deck.

In the evening, savor inspired Italian cuisine at Aqualina, or relish in a classic steakhouse experience at Prime C. Plus, you’ll find plenty of exciting evening entertainment, from thrilling shows at Cabaret Lounge to intimate performances in the Living Room.

Days 3-4 – Leith (Edinburgh), Scotland

To discover Edinburgh, head to its historic heart with a walk down The Royal Mile. At the top, perched above the city, is Edinburgh Castle, home to the crown jewels and sweeping views. At the far end is the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence when in Scotland. Buildings steeped in history line the route between the two, with most converted into shops, restaurants, and pubs.

Day 5 – Aberdeen, Scotland

Voted the happiest place in Britain, it’s hard to disagree when exploring Aberdeen’s abundant shops, castles, and pub-lined medieval streets. A regional hub for the North Sea oil industry, discover this modern city with an old soul. Urban life and natural splendor intersect in the Granite City's stunning green spaces, lush Victorian gardens, ornate architecture, and sandy beaches.

Day 6 – Invergordon, Scotland

A popular port of call, Invergordon combines a superb natural setting of mountains, tumbling waterfalls, rushing rivers, magnificent gardens, and serene lochs—including Loch Ness and its famous resident. Some must-sees include the castles Dunrobin and Cawdor (reportedly Macbeth’s castle), the flower displays of Beauly, Culloden Battlefield, Shin Falls, Inverness, and Glenmorangie Distillery.

Day 7 - Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Scotland

Secluded and seaswept, the Shetland Islands are home to a unique blend of Scandinavian and Scottish culture. Fiddle music floats down streets named to honor the old Norse language. Rocky cliffs and rich farmland are yours to explore over 100 islands that embrace a slower, more authentic pace of life.

Day 8 – Kirkwall

The 70 islands of Orkney are a rolling panorama of fertile fields, heather-cloaked moors, and lakes. The walls of St. Magnus Cathedral dominate Kirkwall—the capital and hub for linking east and west. In summer, whales, dolphins, and thousands of seabirds congregate in and around the coastal waters. And at Skara Brae, see an amazingly preserved Neolithic village dating back more than 5,000 years.

Day 9 – Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, Scotland

Colorful row houses and red-hulled fishing vessels line the shores of this picturesque port. The largest town in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway serves as a gateway to the Western Isles. Discover quaint independent bookstores, homestyle bakeries, and traditional pubs. Dine on fresh-caught seafood. Stroll the grounds of historic Lews Castle on this Islay adventure.

Day 10 – Oban, Scotland

Your destination for a captivating Scottish adventure. Storied castles and stunning Highland views. Cinematic landscapes and charming local culture. Get outside and explore the Scotland of your dreams in Oban by kayak, train, or dram full of whisky.

Day 11 – Glasgow, Scotland

Glasgow is a lively and cosmopolitan city, making a name as a vibrant center of 21st century design, set against a background of exceptional Victorian architecture and state-of-the-art glass towers which house a growing financial services industry. The real Glasgow can be found in the pubs, where everything from the weather to solving the world’s problems are discussed over a pint.

Day 12 – Dublin, Ireland

There’s a story waiting around every corner in Dublin. Spend time in Temple Bar and watch the city come alive, take a ghost tour to discover Dracula’s unnerving connection to Dublin, and behold a view you’ll never forget from the Observation Wheel. Of course, no Irish adventure is complete without a trip to the Guinness Storehouse where you’ll learn the history of Ireland’s most popular stout.
