DAY 1 - Monday - Arrive Canada
Welcome to Newfoundland and Labrador, the most easterly edge of North America; transfer to your hotel in Rocky Harbour. The remainder of the day is at leisure to acclimate to your new surroundings and get ready to discover this land overflowing with extraordinary natural beauty and history dating back to the Vikings.

DAY 2 - Tuesday - Gros Morne National Park, Bonne Bay Cruise
Attend an orientation meeting with Tour Manager and fellow travellers on the exciting journey that awaits you. Depart through Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its unique beauty and stark geological features. Stop at the Discovery Centre in Woody Point, to get a closer look into the geology and glacier activity that have shaped this land, with exhibits about the park's plants, animals, marine habitat and history. Discover the amazing sea life of the area at the Bonne Bay Marine Station on a tour of its saltwater aquarium and touch-tank. Embark on an afternoon cruise of Bonne Bay. Listen to the history of the small villages nestled on the shores and watch out for whales and bald eagles that frequent the deep waters of the fjord. Tonight, savour a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travellers and Tour Manager

DAY 3 -Wednesday - Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, Port aux Choix National Historic Site, Travel to L’Anse Au Clair
This morning, stop at the Lobster Cove Head lighthouse on your way to Labrador. Continue your drive to Port aux Choix National Historic Site on the west side of Newfoundland's Great Northern Peninsula. Along the way, admire breathtaking views of glacier-carved mountains. Here, find the crossroads of 6000 years of human history and discover fascinating archaeological finds. Next, board a ferry to cross the Strait of Belle Isle to Labrador, with its sprawling primeval landscape. Arrive at the hotel in the charming historic town of L'Anse Au Clair, established by the French in the early 1700s for dinner and overnight

DAY 4 - Thursday - Red Bay National Historic Site
Depart for historic Red Bay, previously a major industrial centre of the New World. Along the way stop to visit the Point Amour Lighthouse, the tallest in Atlantic Canada. Arrive at Red Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and former whaling station, established by the Basques in the 16th century. Hear about the hardships of the whalers and their hunt for bowhead whales to harvest oil for light lamps in Europe. View the original Basque artefacts, remains and a restored chalupa (whaling boat) onsite

DAY 5 - Friday - Travel to St. Anthony
This morning, travel by ferry to a local scallop farm. Learn about growing and harvesting fresh scallop. Return back to Newfoundland by ferry, and travel to St. Anthony, a major hub of the Great Northern Peninsula, pausing at Fishing Point, entrance to the main harbour guarded by a circular red striped lighthouse. Admire this magnificent region with its rugged ocean coastline, pristine valleys and lake dotted mountains. Upon arrival in St. Anthony, check into your hotel

DAY 6 - Saturday - L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, Viking Settlement
Spend the morning at leisure, or join the optional Iceberg Alley Boat Tour (weather permitting) into the scenic coastal waters famous for its bounty of icebergs, whales, dolphins and seabirds . In the afternoon, visit the fascinating L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, the only known remains of an 11th century Viking settlement in North America, and the very first cultural centre in the world to be recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. View the excavated remains of wood-framed peat turf buildings similar to those found in Norse Greenland and Iceland. Tour the reconstructed sod huts, learn how the Vikings lived, and see Norse artefacts dating back to 1000 AD before returning to the hotel

DAY 7 - Sunday - Arches Provincial Park, Travel to Cow Head
Today, visit the home of the famous medical missionary, Sir Wilfred Grenfell. Here, learn the story of Grenfell’s influence on the social, medical, and economic change for the people of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. Pass Hawke's Bay on the way to Arches Provincial Park with its ancient limestone formations carved by the relentless pounding of the surf. A path leads to the huge rocks - walk under the arches and feel the awesome strength of the sea. Continue to Cow Head the northern most point of Gros Morne National Park. Tonight, savour dinner together with your fellow travellers at the hotel

DAY 8 - Monday - Salmonid Interpretation Centre, Travel to Gander
Depart this morning to Grand Falls for a visit to the Salmonid Interpretation Centre, one of North America's largest Atlantic Salmon enhancement projects. Located on the Exploits River, the Centre has many interesting exhibits on the history, biology, ecology and habitat of the Atlantic Salmon. Season permitting, view the ‘King of Fish’ through underwater windows and watch as it travels upstream to the spawning habitat. Continue to Gander, the “Small Town that Welcomed the World” made famous in the musical Come From Away, where you visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum. View preserved history that highlights Gander's role in Trans Atlantic Aviation

DAY 9 - Tuesday - Twillingate Peninsula, Travel to Clarenville
A scenic drive along the rocky coast leads to the beautiful Twillingate, one of Newfoundland’s oldest and most interesting fishing communities. Stop for a wine tasting of unique wines, made from Newfoundland berries and fruits. Arrive in Clarenville settled by loggers, farmers and trappers in the 1890s before enjoying dinner together this evening

DAY 10 - Wednesday - Bonavista Peninsula, Village of Trinity
Today, travel to the stunning Bonavista Peninsula historic site where Italian explorer Giovanni Caboto (John Cabot) first discovered North America in 1497. Admire views of the rocky shores, pebbled beaches and picturesque fishing boats accented by whales, seabirds, and icebergs. At the harbour, step inside a full-size replica of Cabot's ship, the Matthew. From atop the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site, glimpses of 10,000-year old icebergs and perhaps even a puffin nesting ground. Continue to the picturesque village of Trinity, one of the oldest communities in North America with its scenic harbour. Take a guided walking tour along the lanes of this charming town with its historic buildings including a typical 20th-century rural merchant's house and a counting house. Return to the hotel for dinner with the group

DAY 11 - Thursday - Travel to St. John's
A change in scenery as you arrive in Newfoundland's trendy capital of St. John’s, the oldest English founded city in North America, dramatically located on the granite cliffs and slopes of the Avalon Peninsula. In town, tour the old seaport, lanes filled with Victorian architecture, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, the Confederation Building before ascending Signal Hill, a National Historic Site, for panoramic views

DAY 12 - Friday - Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, Witless Bay Ecological Reserve
Start your day with a visit to the Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site, the oldest surviving lighthouse in the province and an iconic symbol of Newfoundland and Labrador's mariner history, perched on the most easterly point in North America. Continue to Bay Bulls, board a cruise (weather permitting) for an extraordinary experience at the world-renowned Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, home to the largest Puffin population on North America's east coast. Witless Bay, the "Seabird Capital" contains four islands that teem with birdlife during the seabird breeding season. After lunch, return to St John’s with free time to explore on your own. Tonight, a Farewell Dinner with your newfound friends caps a fantastic journey

Canada - The weather in Canada varies according to geographical area. The hottest period is from July to August and the coolest from November to March. Bring comfortable walking shoes, clothes you can layer, and an all-weather jacket. Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses are also recommended.
