FAQs

Do I need Travel Insurance when sailing within Australia?

Australian Medicare, New Zealand ACC and private health insurance will not cover you for any medical costs on board. All cruises (even cruises that do not visit foreign ports) require international travel insurance. We strongly recommend that you organise your travel insurance at the time you pay your deposit. Please call our travel team on 1300 414 198 for a quote.

Do I need a passport?

For domestic voyages, a valid passport or government issued photo identification is required (Queensland ‘Adult Proof of Age Card’ will be accepted, however the older version of Queensland ‘Card 18+’ will not be accepted).

Do I have to tip?

Tipping is not required or charged to your onboard account when sailing on a Princess ship that departs and returns to Australia and/or operates with Australian currency onboard (please refer to Onboard Currency.) You are welcome to reward our onboard crew for exceptional service, however, tipping is not required.

What Should I Wear?

Casual sportswear, including shorts, lightweight pants and jogging suits, is the order of the day both at sea and ashore in hotter climates. We recommend you bring a sweater, a jacket or an all-weather coat for cool evenings, and for shore excursions, depending on your destination. You'll also want comfortable shoes for strolling on deck.

For evening dining, keep with what you would wear to a nice restaurant at home: skirts/dresses, slacks, and sweaters for ladies, pants and open-neck shirts for men. Cruises five days or longer include at least one formal dining night: evening gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies and tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits for men.

Are there Theme Nights?

Cruises of 7 nights or more usually feature theme nights for guests to enjoy. Outfits are available for purchase onboard, or you are welcome to bring your own. So why not pack something and join the fun? Theme nights may vary from cruise to cruise; however, you can expect at least the following:

  • Island Night - bring your tropical wear for our Island Night deck party on all warm weather sailings.
  • Country and Western Night - bring your hats and boots and kick up your heels at this popular party.
