The following is a SUGGESTED ITINERARY for your Granite Belt Summer Getaway.

Day 1: Brisbane to Stanthorpe
Drive Distance: approx. 246km

Travel south via Ipswich-Boonah Road to Boonah, heart of the Scenic Rim, with its stunning mountain and country scenery. Follow the Falls Scenic Drive via Lake Moogerah, Carr’s Lookout and the spectacular Queen Mary Falls to Killarney. Enjoy lunch at Spring Creek Mountain Cafe, while taking in the spectacular views over Condamine Gorge, Wilson’s Peak and the World Heritage listed Border Ranges National Park. Continue your drive to Stanthorpe in the heart of the Granite Belt Wine Region.

Day 2: Stanthorpe

Why not explore the region's food and wine options today! Driving around the region is easy and you can pick up a map to show you the location of the wineries and food suppliers. Enjoy sampling the local delicacies or follow the Strange Birds Wine Trail to experience new and unusual varieties. Or, if you prefer, we can book you on a guided tour of the local wineries, fresh produce outlets and attractions.

If you're not into wine, don't worry. There's also a microbrewery at you accommodation, which produces beer and cider. Don't forget to pack your gourmet picnic hamper (in case you get hungry). There are a number of National Parks and scenic spots in the region to stop and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Day 3: Stanthorpe

Spend the day exploring the local farms and producers and tasting the amazing range of summer fruits, berries and the gourmet products which are made from fresh local crops.

You can buy freshly picked berries directly from the farms' gates or why not pick your own? Don't forget to check out the gourmet produce at Jamworks, Stanthorpe Cheese, Heavenly Chocolate and the Truffle Discovery Centre.

Day 4: Stanthorpe to Brisbane

Today before you head home be sure to stock up on some amazing treats to take home with you!

We recommend picking up your fruit and veggies from Sam's Farm Fresh Fruit and Veg, located on Middleton Rd, Cottonvale. Owner Sam Giacca is a local legend and is loved by all. His ramshackle greengrocer is a throw back to yesteryear with it wooden crates, hessian bags and is piled high with local produce grown by local farmers.

Pick up fresh apple juice and the most amazing slice of apple pie you will have ever tasted from Sutton's Juice Factory Cidery & Cafe. Just beside the New England highway and diagonally opposite The Big Apple is a bright pink sign saying Sutton’s Juice Factory & Cidery & Café, open seven days. Drive in to the old packing shed which, from the outside, gives no clue as to what may be found on the other side of the door.
