    Day 1

    Meet your Tour Escort, Shirley Tamm when the SeaLink coach arrives and picks you up at your city hotel or the Adelaide Central Bus Station this morning. We then travel via the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis where we board the SeaLink Ferry to Kangaroo Island.

    Highlights today include viewing Frenchman’s Rock, then a visit to the historic Maritime & Folk Museum and Visitors Centre, before driving towards the eastern end of KI with lunch overlooking the ocean at Dudley Wines Cellar Door, followed by tastings of their award winning wines. Then continue to Cape Willoughby, site of the first lighthouse in SA built in 1852, for a tour of the Lighthouse and Weather Station. Late in the afternoon we arrive at Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge and settle into our accommodation for the next 5 nights.

    Day 2

    After breakfast, we tour the township of Kingscote before heading north to visit the Old Wisanger School, officially opened in 1885 which provided continuous schooling until the opening of Kingscote Area School in 1945. We continue along the north coast road to discover the charming swimming beach and surrounding beauty of Stokes Bay.  Here we visit the ‘secret beach’ which is protected from the pounding surf by a giant pool surrounded by rocks. Our delicious lunch today will be enjoyed at the Rockpool Café, Stokes Bay. After lunch we drive south to visit the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, home to over 150 species of Native Australian wildlife and over 600 animals!  To complete the day, we visit the picturesque surroundings of Bay of Shoals Winery, to taste some of their quality wines and admire the distant vistas of the North Cape. Tonight we enjoy dinner with our group.

    Day 3

    This morning after breakfast, we travel along the south coast road to visit famous Seal Bay where we join our guide for a walk through a wild seal colony that is home to around 600 rare Australian sea lions. We then enjoy an amazing, interactive, educational and highly entertaining display of In-Flight Birds of Prey at Raptor Domain. Our lunch today is at ‘Frogs N Roses’, a well-stocked nursey hosting a cosy, eclectic stone cottage café, indulging in the sweet smell of fresh native flowers. After lunch you may like to browse the beautiful nursery gardens on the banks of the Cygnet River. After lunch, we stop for a shop visit at Island Beehive which has a wide variety of locally made produce and gifts, including organic honey. We take a short tour of the town of Kingscote before returning to our hotel for dinner this evening.

    Day 4

    After breakfast, we travel west to Flinders Chase National Park. Our first stop is the Visitor Centre before travelling through the natural rugged beauty of the park to spectacular Remarkable Rocks. We travel on to Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, built in 1906 and the natural land bridge that is Admirals Arch where we will see Long-nosed Fur Seals.

    Our lunch today is at Vivonne Bay Lodge and before we travel back to Kingscote, we make a short stop to see spectacular views of the Southern Ocean at Point Ellen and Vivonne Bay (named Australia’s best beach).

    Later in the afternoon on arrival back into Kingscote, there will be free time to explore the main street, enjoy a walk along the esplanade or just relax at the Hotel. Enjoy our dinner tonight at the hotel.

    Day 5

    This morning after breakfast we travel to Clifford’s Honey Farm, home to the only pure strain of Ligurian Bee in the world where we learn about the interesting life and work of these rare honey bees.

    We then travel west to tour Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where they manufacture 100% pure Australian Eucalyptus Oil. Our lunch today is at the Emu Bay Lavender Farm. There will be time to learn about the many ways in which lavender has been introduced into a variety of products on display in their shop. We will have a brief stop at Emu Bay with its small jetty dating back to 1918 and renowned for its beautiful 4 kilometre beach.

    Our last visit for the day is to sample the various spirits produced at KI Spirits who have just won the prestigious title of Best Gin in Australia. Dinner this evening with our Group.

    Day 6

    After breakfast, we depart Kingscote with a scenic drive to Penneshaw via American River and Pennington Bay. There will be time to pick up last minute gifts as we view prominent local art works and crafts, at our visit to KI Artworks Gallery.

    We then enjoy a fun and educational presentation at Rob’s Shearing and Sheepdogs where we witness a truly authentic Australian experience. Our lunch today is at Fire and Smoke Cafe in Penneshaw that has wonderful views overlooking the Gulf.

    This afternoon, we return to the mainland on the SeaLink ferry to Cape Jervis and continue our picturesque drive back to Adelaide. We arrive into Adelaide this afternoon at approximately 5pm, having made wonderful new friendships and full of great memories of our Ultimate Kangaroo Island Tour.
