Day 1 – Saturday 25 Nov 2023: Brisbane to Norfolk Island
This morning meet your dedicated guide before flying with Qantas to beautiful Norfolk Island. On arrival on the island, be transferred by private vehicle to your accommodation for the next seven nights, Governor’s Lodge. Tonight join a spoooooky Ghost Tour with dinner and a lantern walk. Listen to tales and stories that will delight you, make you sad and through it all send shivers down your spine!
Day 2 – Sunday 26 Nov 2023: Discover Norfolk Island
Head to the markets to enjoy local arts and crafts and mix with the locals. This afternoon learn about the convict history during the Convict Kingston Tour. Hear about the first settlers, first and second settlements and learn how Norfolk became home to the descendants of the infamous Bounty mutiny. Walk through the historic cemetery and enjoy some refreshments. Tonight enjoy a two course dinner at the hotel.
Day 3 – Monday 27 Nov 2023: History in the Making & Murder Mystery night
Begin the day with an Island Orientation Tour where you will see and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches, golf course, renowned Melanesian Chapel, and the island’s government, laws and lifestyle. Scenic views along the way are an added bonus! This afternoon explore more of the town on the History in the Making Tour. Visit convict work sites in historic Kingston and a small working museum, plus see demonstrations of hands-on activities such as shingle and rope making. Tonight enjoy a murder mystery dinner where you’ll solve Who Killed the Surveyor? Mystery dinner begins at 6:30pm.
Day 4 – Tuesday 28 Nov 2023: Colleen McCullough & Progressive Dinner
Colleen McCullough the world-renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. Visit her beloved property ‘Out Yenna’ and get a glimpse into the life of a modern day literary icon. The afternoon is yours to explore. Lunch is at own expense. Tonight is a Progressive Dinner that takes you to lovely homes in three completely different parts of the island.
Day 5 – Wednesday 29 Nov 2023: Thanksgiving Day Picnic
This morning you will be picked up to join the locals at the Church of England Thanksgiving Service held at the historic All Saints Church in Kingston. The church is beautifully decorated with local produce and the perfect place to start the day. Norfolk Island is one of the only place outside the United States that celebrates Thanksgiving Day, dating back to the time the American whalers lived on the island. Many of their descendants have continued the tradition today. Then it’s off to a traditional island lunch where you’ll taste some traditional Norfolk wettles with wine, while enjoying the local entertainment. A two course dinner at your hotel is the perfect end to the day.
Day 6 – Thursday 30 Nov 2023: Local Life & Island Fish Fry
Visit a few of the locally owned businesses that make up Norfolk Island’s industries. Norfolk Island has a huge amount of small businesses making different local products that you are able to see – and maybe have a taste of! Enjoy morning tea at a beautiful scenic location before spending the afternoon at your leisure. Tonight indulge in local island dishes, entertainment and Norfolk traditions at the Island Fish Fry. The location is 'Orn Daa Cliff' on the island’s beautiful western coastline and it’s the perfect spot to catch one of Norfolk’s stunning sunsets.
Day 7 – Friday 1 Dec 2023: Gardens & Night as a Convict
Tour the gardens of Bounty Mutineer descendants this morning and go behind-the-scenes of a market garden, flower garden and an orchard. See a secluded old island home irrigated by a hand dug well which was dug in the convict era. It’s your last night on the island and you’ll be ending with a bang at Night as a Convict! Prepare for a fun night where you’ll dress as a convict and join in with the Commandant for an evening of gaiety, feasting, singing and dancing. It’s great food and great fun.
Day 8 – Saturday 2 Dec 2023: Farewell Norfolk Island
Enjoy your last hours on the island before saying see yorlye gane (see you again)! Be transferred to the airport to meet your Brisbane flight.
