The history of this glacier is fascinating and you will learn all about the scenery and wildlife located in the area whilst cruising.It takes about 400 years for ice to traverse the length of the glacier, meaning that the ice at the foot of the glacier is about 400 years old.
The glacier has been known to create icebergs where it meets the bay, some the size of large office buildings. Most of the ice is below the waterline, so ships keep their distance from the edge of the glacier in Disenchantment Bay, as newly-carved icebergs can shoot up quite dramatically!
