Pack your dancing shoes for this unforgettable 13-night cruise along the shores of South America. Begin with a day in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires followed by an overnight stay in Montevideo, Uruguay. Explore the historical monuments of this captivating capital city before setting sail for two days of cruising along the Brazilian coast to São Paulo. Here, spend the day exploring Brazil’s largest metropolis, and take in breathtaking views atop Banespa—a towering skyscraper in the heart of the city.
On to Paraty, where you’ll feel as though you’ve traveled 300 years back in time to a Brazilian gold rush town. Make your way to City Centre and stroll the cobblestone streets that are off-limits to all vehicles.
Next, it’s time for three days—including Fat Tuesday—and two electric nights in Rio de Janeiro for Carnival, a tradition stretching back nearly three centuries. Over two million people per day pour into the streets of Rio during Carnival to dance and revel at the biggest party on Earth!
We follow up Rio with two days of pure relaxation aboard your boutique hotel at sea before arriving in Punta del Este, Uruguay. A charming seaside resort town, Punta del Este is teeming with white sand beaches, fashionable cafés and shops, and artistic flair. The voyage then concludes where it began, in Buenos Aires—known as The Paris of South America.
*Club Veranda Plus stateroom only available on 2020 voyages.
Welcome to elegant, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, with its European colonial architecture and colourful mix of cultures. Each district has its own style: enjoy Palermo with its mansions and parks; shop in the chic boutiques of Soho and Hollywood; and soak up the Italian flavour of La Boca where tango dancers and artists display their talents for passersby.
Montevideo exudes European charm and elegance, with broad boulevards, fountains, stately squares, and irresistible sidewalk cafes. Take in the Art Nouveau pedestrian mall, Art Deco Centenary Stadium, and American Embassy designed by I.M. Pei. Most of the nation’s countryside is farm or ranchland, and the life of the cowboy, or gaucho, is part of the local lore.
Relax and reflect on your journey thus far with a few days of fun at sea. Get a behind-the-scenes look at life onboard with an Insider’s View Tour or attend a destination lecture to learn more about your next port-of-call. Want to really unwind? Watch the world go by and sip a complimentary drink poolside, or say “ahh” with a visit to Sanctum Spa.
Whatever your heart desires, you’ll have no trouble finding it in São Paulo—Brazil’s largest and most diverse city. From incredible museums to delicious food, cultural landmarks, and relaxing green space, Azamara can help you discover the local flavour of São Paulo.
Paraty's Portuguese colonial architecture remains undisturbed, and nothing spoils the mood, not even traffic, as no cars are allowed in the old town centre. Follow the gold trail into the hinterlands in a 4WD, or tour a sugar estate and Cachaça distillery, where they brew up the strong sugar cane liquor that is the key ingredient in the national cocktail, the Caipirinha.
Samba on down to Rio, easy going except for the four days of frenetic, feather-festooned Carnaval. No journey to Rio would be complete without a visit to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World—Christ the Redeemer. At the top of Corcovado Mountain, this 125-foot-tall statue of Jesus Christ spreads its arms over Rio and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Guanabara Bay.
This is the perfect time to experience all that your boutique hotel at sea has to offer—or to simply do nothing at all. From decadent specialty dining, to immersive lectures, to tranquil spa treatments, the choice is yours. Shop for tasteful gifts at our onboard stores, or retreat to the Drawing Room and explore the world with our digital Inspiration Centre. Days at sea are spectacular with us.
Punta del Este's white sand beaches are popular with families and the glitterati alike. Fashionable cafes and shops line the streets, and an evening harbour - front stroll will no doubt include a serenade by street musicians and entertainers. The town projects an artsy vibe, with the Brava Beach open air sculpture park, displaying large works in steel, concrete, wood, iron, and marble.
