Day One: Brisbane to Stanthorpe
Drive Distance: approx. 246km
Travel south via the Ipswich Boonah Road to Boonah, heart of the Scenic Rim with its stunning mountain and country scenery. Follow the Falls Scenic Drive via Lake Moogerah, Carr’s Lookout and the spectacular Queens Mary Falls to Killarney. Enjoy lunch at Spring Creek Mountain Cafe with spectacular views over Condamine Gorge, Wilson’s Peak, The Border Ranges and World Heritage listed rainforest. Day Two: Explore the Granite Belt
After breakfast, visit nearby Jamworks to sample delicious jams, preserves and real fruit ice creams made on site. Burn off some energy at spectacular Girraween National Park with its prehistoric granite rocks, natural rock pools and unique wildlife.
Sit amongst 140-year-old barrels as you tuck into a local produce lunch at the Barrel Room Restaurant, Ballandean Estate. Pick up some natural handmade soap from Washpool Farm Soaperie then return to Granite Belt Retreat for a relaxed dinner at the brewery restaurant.
Day Three: Stanthorpe to Brisbane
Drive Distance: approx 156KM
Time this morning to meet some local artisans beginning with a visit to nearby Kent Saddlery, specialising in custom-made saddles and handcrafted leather goods.
As you make your way back to Brisbane on the Mt Lindsay Highway, call into to Aloomba Lavender, an open lavender farm, part of a 4000-acre cattle property. Spend some time in their lavender themed gift shop and enjoy a great coffee before travelling back to Brisbane.
