Wednesday: Arrive Longreach

Make your own way to Longreach (Travel at 60 are happy to assist with flights) and on arrival your Outback Pioneers Hosts will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation at The Staging Post. Your Outback Queensland experience starts here!

Thursday: Stagecoach and Starlight Cruise Experience

Start the day with the Cobb and Co Stagecoach Experience including the stagecoach ride on the old Longreach to Windorah mail route, home-baked scones and tea at our cafe, followed by a vintage Aussie movie.

At 12pm watch the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show with a billy-can lunch. Transfer back to your accommodation.

At around 4.30pm, we’ll picked you up and take you to the banks of the Thomson River for our Starlight’s Cruise Experience. It includes a hearty stockman’s dinner around the campfire with bush poetry and the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show featuring an exclusive movie that celebrates legendary local hero Harry Redford. BYO drinks.

Friday: Nogo Station and Qantas Founders Museum

The first day takes you from your accommodation to the real heart of outback life at the Kinnon’s historic Nogo Station. Be inspired and entertained by stories of pioneering life and working station reality with your Kinnon host. Marvel at the merino story in the historic shearing sheds. Experience the incredible station safari in an open-top, double-decker bus. Visit Captain Starlight’s stockyards and have a traditional saddlebag lunch under the gum trees.

Transfer to the Qantas Founders Museum (entry included). Take your time to enjoy the museum and 90-minute Jet Tour. Time to freshen up before your Stonegrill® dining experience at The Welcome Home.

Saturday: Winton Discovery Day Tour

It’s a 6.45am start for a full-day tour to Winton. Visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum, Dinosaur Canyon and March of the Titanosaurs exhibition plus the Waltzing Matilda Centre. Enjoy lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel and take a stroll down the Main Street before returning to Longreach. Dine at The Welcome Home restaurant in the evening.

Sunday: Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame

Visit the iconic Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the five galleries before lunch at the museum café (at your own cost). Return to your accommodation and decide on dinner. Try a local restaurant or order takeaway...

Monday: Depart Longreach

Farewell breakfast at The Welcome Home. It’s the end of your stay in Longreach and time to brush off the outback dust and reflect on an incredible few days. Your host will be there to see you off and you’ll be leaving with new friends and great memories.

We’ll take you to the station to join the Spirit of the Outback for your journey to Brisbane on the train.

Tuesday: Arrive in Brisbane

Say farewell to your fellow travellers during the morning as your amazing Outback Adventure ends on arrival in Brisbane's Roma Street Station around midday.

This unique accommodation would have impressed the ladies and gentleman arriving on the Cobb & Co coach but also has everything for today’s travellers. All rooms have en-suites, very comfortable beds, air-conditioning, TV and free Wi-Fi – plus clever pioneer-inspired features and lovingly-crafted quirks that create an unforgettable sense of place. 

SPIRIT OF THE OUTBACK - FIRST CLASS SLEEPER

Your First Class Sleeper is a private cabin which provides a comfortable seat during the day which converts into a bed at night. Enjoy all-inclusive chef prepared meals in the Tuckerbox Restaurant and the latest movies on entertainment tablets in the Shearers Rest Lounge, which is exclusive to First Class customers. Your First Class cabin also contains a 240v plug to power your personal electronics.

A​ Note about Mobility. This tour provides an authentic pioneer experience. We recommend that you are comfortable walking over uneven ground, walking for long periods with out sitting and climbing in and out of vehicles unassisted.

It is important to note that Queensland Rail periodically conduct planned and unplanned maintenance to tracks throughout the Queensland Rail network. Disruptions caused by this is out of our control. We will endeavour to advise you as soon as possible of the situation and alternative travel options.

Queensland rail has advised us that due to track work, the Spirit of the Outback P986 that is due to depart Longreach on 22 July 2024 may be cancelled and replaced with road coaches operating Longreach to Brisbane.

A minimum number of passengers is required for this tour to proceed. The day to day itinerary is subject to change without notice. Same gender solo pair up is subject to availability. If we are unable to match you with another traveller the sole use price will be charged. No changes are permitted once final payment has been made.

N​on-refundable deposit of $300 per person due within 7 days of booking. Final payment due 45 days prior to departure.

Concession Cards: All concession card numbers must be advised at the time of booking and a copy of both sides of your card is to be sent to Travel at 60 once your booking is confirmed. Any customers who do not provide a concession number will be charged the adult fare.

QLD Pension Entitlements: Queensland resident pension card holders are entitled to four (4) rail travel entitlements each calendar year. Additional fare applies for any Queensland Pensioners who have used their rail travel entitlements. A copy of both sides of your card is to be sent to Travel at 60 once your booking is confirmed. Any customers who do not provide a concession number will be charged the adult fare.

3​0 days prior to travel any amendments such as but not limited to name changes pick up and drop off location changes will incur a $25 per person fee.
