21 AUG 2021: ARRIVE PERTH

On arrival in Perth, make your own way to the Duxton Hotel Perth. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city.

Please let us know if you would like to extend your stay in Perth so that we can provide a cost for your additional accommodation and if required, sightseeing tours. We can also book a private vehicle transfer from the airport to hotel - just ask our consultants for details.

22 AUG 2021: PERTH (Board the Indian Pacific) & KALGOORLIE

This morning after breakfast, make your way to the East Perth Terminal (approx 6-10 min drive from the hotel) to board the Indian Pacific for your journey across the nation.

Your journey from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean begins as you pull away from the platform in Perth mid-morning. Settle into your comfortable cabin and get to know the creature comforts of life onboard. Enjoy a modern Australian lunch as you glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. After a relaxing afternoon onboard, enjoy a three-course dinner prior to your late evening arrival in the wild west township of Kalgoorlie.

23 AUG 2021: NULLARBOR PLAIN

Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain to watch the sunrise. Be captivated by the big blue skies and ancient stillness of the desert landscape, broken only by a mob of friendly kangaroos. Waiting ahead is the charm of the once-thriving Nullarbor railway community – now ghost town – of Cook. Sit back and relax as the train continues its trek across the longest single stretch of railway in the world. Another mouth-watering dinner is followed by relaxed conversation in the lounge before a restful night’s sleep.

24 AUG 2021: ADELAIDE & BROKEN HILL

On arrival in elegant Adelaide, you have the choice of a walking tour (seasonal), a behind-the-scenes tour of the world famous Adelaide Oval, or a coach tour of the city sights. This evening you’ll enjoy a stop at Broken Hill, Australia’s silver capital and home to a unique artistic community.

25 AUG 2021: BLUE MOUNTAINS & SYDNEY (Disembark the Indian Pacific)

Wake in the picturesque Blue Mountains. See the majestic Three Sisters at Echo Point and the views at Jamison Valley before completing your journey on our chartered NSW rail service (fully hosted by our staff) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney.

Are you a solo traveller? If you're willing to share, we can pair you with another solo traveller so that you can avoid paying a single supplement. Subject to availability of another guest of the same gender willing to share.

Why not extend your stay? Perth and the surround regions have so much to see - spend the day or overnight on Rottnest Island, or enjoy a cruise through the Swan Valley and enjoy wine tasting of the local varieties. Fremantle has a great marine history and is a great place to spend the day. If you have a few days, why not head to the Margaret River region to sample the local produce and visit the national parks along the way.

Willing to share:
One of the advantages of travelling on a Travel at 60 dedicated group departure is that we have the ability to match solo travellers, so that you can avoid paying the single supplement. Please note this is subject to availability of another traveller of the same gender willing to share.

INDIAN PACIFIC:

Luggage?

Guests should bring an overnight bag to their cabin containing everything needed for the journey. Each guest travelling are entitled to checked in luggage, however checked in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey. In Gold service guests are allowed 2 bags x 30kg and guests travelling in Platinum Service are allowed 3 bags x 30kg.

Can I take any pets or animals with me on-train?

No - the only animals permitted on GSR services are specially trained dogs for the vision and hearing impaired.

Can I take my walking frame/wheelchair/ scooter on board the train?

No - these items must be checked-in as stored luggage. A specially modified pushchair can be requested for use on train (with the assistance of a Carer or travelling companion) - PLEASE INFORM US AT TIME OF BOOKING.

Does the train carry power outlets for CPAC machines?

Cabins on the Indian Pacific have 240V power outlets installed which can be used for a CPAC machine. It is recommended that a surge arrestor/protector be used to protect the machine when it is plugged in case of a power surge.

Can I pre-book my Off-Train Excursions?

Off Train Excursions preferences can only be organised once on board the train and are not able to be pre-booked.

Do I need any cash or credit cards onboard?

As the rail journeys are all-inclusive you will not need to buy anything unless you choose to purchase an Off Train Excursion upgrade or souvenirs, which you can do onboard utilising our EFTPOS or credit card facilities.

Dress Code onboard the train?

Smart casual attire is suggested for guests travelling in Platinum Service and Gold Service. Warm clothes are recommended for evenings onboard the train, as the air-conditioning can be cool. It is recommended that guests pack a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes for off-train touring. Sensible shoes are advisable for walking between carriages. Long, sturdy pants may be required for some Off Train Excursions.

A non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is due within 7 days of booking with the balance due to be paid in full no later than Friday 18 June 2021.
