Day 1 – Friday – Arrive Bundaberg
This afternoon you'll meet your fellow travellers at Brisbane's Roma Street Station before boarding the Train for your journey to Bundaberg. On arrival in Bundaberg (approx 9:35pm), you'll be transferred to your accommodation for the next two nights.
Day 2 – Saturday - Bundaberg
Today enjoy a guided tour of a number of local factories and distilleries, including Rum, Ginger & Gin.
This afternoon, visit Macadamias Australia a family owned second generation Macadamia farm. Enjoy a walk through the original orchards of Macadamias Australia and wander through the Visitor Experience Centre learning all about the origin of the macadamia nut, how they are planted, harvested, processed and packaged through our on-site carbon-negative processing facility. Satisfy your tastebuds with a tasting of our full range of macadamia flavours and lunch.
Day 3 – Sunday - Discovery Coast
Around 90 mins north of Bundaberg lies the Discovery Coast where Agnes Water and the historical Town of 1770 is situated. The Larc and Lunch experience gives you a taste of the scenery and experiences this region has with its connection to Captain James Cook’s visit, the indigenous history and nature. Travel to Gladstone late afternoon to check in with time to freshen up prior to dinner.
Day 4 – Monday – City Sights
Today we take a tour of Gladstone, visiting local industries and an oil refinery. This afternoon visit the Tondoon Botanical Gardens, Tondoon houses three main living collections, The Port Curtis Plant Region Collection, The South East Queensland Rainforest collection, and The North Queensland Rainforest collection.
Day 5 – Tuesday – Local Industry
Visit Boyne Island with its huge Aluminium Smelter and the beach side town of Tannum Sands, where we take in a few of the points of interest including a little local art gallery and enjoy lunch at the Tannum Sands Hotel (own expense). After lunch visit the Barramundi hatchery at Lake Awoonga for a tour of the $9m facility. The hatchery breeds and releases around 200,000 fingerlings per annum into Lake Awoonga. You might even get to feed one of these metre long fish from the brood stock.
Day 6 – Wednesday – Gladstone
Relaxing start to the day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Head off at (approx 11am) for Ward's Brewery. For 100 years our site at Auckland Street has been producing some of the finest craft drinks around. But instead of cherry cheer and sarsaparilla, let us pull you a draught of Gladstone’s freshest craft beer, brewed under the roof in our 10 hectolitre gas-fired tanks. In the afternoon take a gentle cruise on the vehicle barge around Curtis Island. There are tea/coffee and bar services on board.
Day 7 - Thursday - Farewell
Enjoy breakfast prior to an 7.30am pick up for transport to the Tilt Train to head back to Brisbane after this fun filled getaway in Qld’s Central Coast.
