Beyond the high-rises of Surfer's Paradise there is so much to discover through the Gold Coast. From secluded beaches and National Parks to the wineries and local cafes of the hinterland we are going to show you the gems of this destination that you never knew about!
You have 5 days to explore this great region as you please. Below are a few of our suggested must see and do's!
Burleigh Head National Park:
Oceanview Walk - This track skirts the coastline leading around the rocky headland from Tallebudgera Creek to the southern edge of Burleigh Heads township.
Lamington National Park:
The World Heritage-listed rainforests of the Gold Coast hinterland, an hour drive west of Surfers Paradise. Walk among the rainforest canopy on O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walkway in Lamington National Park or step inside a cave to see the cascading waterfall of Natural Bridge in Springbrook. Afterwards, why not pick up a gourmet picnic basket from O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards and enjoy lunch by the creek?
Rainbow Bay:
A must do is watching the sun set over Rainbow Bay, overlooking the famous Snapper Rocks surf break. Afterwards enjoy a scrumptious meal at Rick Shores. Located right on Burleigh Beach, a table at the front of the restaurant overlooking the water with the waves lapping metres from your table.
Gold Coast Fishermen’s Co-op:
Every day the boats leave late in the evening, trawl through the night and return in the morning loaded up with the freshest seafood available, selling directly from their boats. With new pontoons providing easy access to the trawlers, the Fishermen’s Co-Operative is the best place to get the freshest seafood in the Gold Coast. Straight from the sea, to the boat, to you – the only way you could get fresher seafood is if you caught it yourself (and have you ever tried to catch a prawn?) Head down to get your self some fresh seafood for a picnic lunch!
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary:
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a heritage-listed zoological garden. Immerse yourself into 27 hectares of Currumbin rainforest, wandering through open animal enclosures, feeding Kangaroos and cuddling koalas along the way. Experience the wild lorikeet feeding, free flight bird shows and aboriginal performances.
Art, craft and food markets:
There are numerous markets on the Gold Coast showcasing food and hand-made art and crafts from the region. Explore the fascinating array of goods, from art and craft to fashion, fresh produce, gifts and knick knacks.
