Tamworth is the undisputed home of country music - but that's not all it has to offer. Over four days you'll discover the rich history and heritage of the region, from gold mining towns to the birth of the famous Country Music Festival.
On this four-day trip, you'll travel along country roads with stunning scenery, explore historic colonial towns, enjoy meals at working sheep and cattle stations and see the amazing 40m high silo mural as part of Australia's spectacular Silo Art Trail.
The country music fans will have much to love, with visits to the Country Music Wax Museum, the National Guitar Museum and of course, the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame.

Transport to Tamworth & travel insurance
Day 1: Make your own way to Tamworth Airport for your transfer to Best Western All Settlers Motor Inn, our home for the next four nights. Enjoy a welcome dinner where we meet our fellow travellers, coach driver and hostess.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast we board the coach and immerse ourselves in what Tamworth is best known for - its country music heritage. In 1969 , Radio 2TM proclaimed Tamworth as Australia’s ‘Country Music Capital’ then four years later saw the birth of the Tamworth Country Music Festival. From there the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame came to be. Today we will visit all the iconic spots that relate to this part of Tamworth’s history, including visits to Country Music Wax Museum, the National Guitar Museum, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Our day will also get an opportunity to explore the township of Tamworth. Maybe it will be wandering Peel Street with its immense variety of boutiques, shops, cafes … one of which might be where you choose to have lunch today (at own expense)
Having had a great day immersing ourselves in the rich country music history of Tamworth we make our way back to our hotel for dinner.
Day 3: Today after our breakfast we head south out of Tamworth with our first visit to Chaffey Dam. Situated in the Peel Valley on the Peel River it is popular for water activities such as swimming, boating and fishing.
Back on the coach we continue south to the little hamlet of Nundle. First settled after gold was discovered at ‘The Hanging Rock’ in the early 1850’s today it remains a scenic village with many historic buildings including the Nundle Woollen Mill. We will have a guided tour of the mill before having some time to explore more of this historic town.
Lunch today will be at Dag Sheep Station, located just outside Nundle this 70 acre property was originally part of the Wombramurra Station the Dag retains the station’s original historic woolshed, shearer’s quarters and mess hall.
After lunch we will visit the Hanging Rock lookout and Sheba Dam, hand built in the late 1880’s the dam provided water for gold mining operations, and today is popular for picnicking, swimming, kayaking and hiking.
Back on the coach we return to our hotel to freshen up before we head to the magnificent Goonoo Goonoo Station for a dinner you’re sure to remember.
Day 4: Having travelled south out of Tamworth yesterday today we head north. Our first stop is the township of Manilla where we visit the Heritage Museum for a guided tour and some morning tea. Manilla is best known for its fishing, paragliding and mountain biking and sits at the junction of the Namoi and Manilla rivers.
Continuing our journey north we arrive at Barraba. Settled in the late 19th century as a service town for local farmers, Barraba is at the heart of some of Australia’s best farming land, much of which is still owned by descendants of the district’s founding families. Once known for its wool and wheat, the region is nowadays celebrated for its world-class beef production. The town abounds with natural beauty and has a reputation as a birdwatcher’s paradise, and is also part of the Silo Art Trail with an amazing 40 metre high mural of The Water Diviner painted by Fintan Magee sitting on a silo coming in to town.
Lunch today is at The Playhouse Hotel is housed in premises formerly known as the Central Hotel, which was the oldest of Barraba’s four pubs. The building was constructed out of handmade brick in 1905 on a crossroads in the middle of town, and for decades was considered the town's “top” pub.
Departing Barraba we make the leisurely trip back in to Tamworth taking in some of the regions wonderful landscapes before arriving back at our motel for our last night together and farewell dinner.
Day 5: After a hearty breakfast we load our bags and board the coach for the short trip to Tamworth Airport where we bid each other goodbye and catch our respective flights home.
