The abundance of colour and fragrance is sure to delight both your senses and your camera lens. At the Cobb+Co Museum, a knowledgeable guide will lead us through the exhibits, showcasing the nation’s finest collection of horse-drawn vehicles within the National Carriage Collection. The gardeners of Toowoomba work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure their gardens reach their peak each Spring. From planning and planting to the final display, it is truly a labour of love. Many aim to earn recognition in the prestigious garden competitions - and, ultimately, to share their beautiful creations with visitors. Day 4 - Thursday 01 October 2026

This morning we begin at the Ju Raku En Japanese Gardens, its name translating to “enjoying peace and longevity in a public place”. This serene space is renowned for its beautiful and authentic representation of traditional Japanese landscape design. We then visit the DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum, a volunteer-run community organisation dedicated to preserving the region’s railway heritage. One of its major focuses is the restoration of the last remaining steam locomotive built at the historic Toowoomba Foundry: the “Pride of Toowoomba”, C16-106 Southern Cross Works No. 28, circa 1914, proudly displayed at the museum. Enjoy lunch before we depart Toowoomba, with one final stop at the Spring Bluff Railway Station. This Heritage listed site, located on the main line between Toowoomba and Ipswich, has a history spanning more than 150 years. It's spring display is always a highlight, featuring vibrant poppies, ranunculus, snapdragons, petunias, and other colourful annuals bursting to life in the warm sunshine. We then continue our journey back to Brisbane with many memories to cherish.
