Lady Elliot is a true coral cay located on the southern tip of Australia's iconic Great Barrier Reef, 80km north-east of Bundaberg and just north of Fraser Island. The Island is situated within a highly protected Green Zone of the Marine National Park and is a sanctuary for over 1,200 species of marine life. Lady Elliot Island is regarded as one of the best diving and snorkelling locations on the Great Barrier Reef and is renowned for its healthy coral reef and abundance of turtles, manta rays, reef sharks and the entire cast of Finding Nemo.

Lady Elliot Island is known as the Home of the Manta Ray and these giant kites of the sea can be seen feeding around the island throughout the year, but aggregate in larger numbers during the winter months. Three species of sea turtles frequent Lady Elliot Island throughout the year and Green and Loggerhead turtles are the only ones that nest on the Island between November and March. The hatchlings make their journey to the ocean from February to April. From June to October, the graceful Humpback Whales migrate past Lady Elliot Island. Regular sightings occur on the scenic flights, from the glass bottom boat, whilst snorkelling or diving and from the Island's beaches. Lady Elliot Island is also one of the most significant seabird breeding sites in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

The main goal is to provide guests with life changing moments and world class experiences through natural encounters, both above and below the water. Scenic flights to Lady Elliot Island depart daily from the Gold Coast, Brisbane (Redcliffe), Hervey Bay/Fraser Coast or Bundaberg.

Accommodation

Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort offers a range of comfortable accommodation options, with each unit, tent and cabin designed to minimise impact on the Island, while enriching the overall guest experience of the environment and seasonal wildlife. In keeping with the natural, eco-friendly practices there are no telephones, television, radios or wi-fi available in the rooms. Limited wi-fi is available in the restaurant.

Eco Cabin (shared facilities):

Situated within a 20-30 metre walk from the lagoon, the newly upgraded Eco Cabins have solid walls, louvres for maximum air flow, a large front glass sliding door and shared bathroom facilities. The Eco Cabins sleep up to 4 adults and the Eco Family Cabin (1 only) sleeps up to 5 adults. Lighting and power points are available in every cabin as well as a ceiling fan. The deck is furnished with two chairs for added relaxation.

Garden Unit:

Situated within a 20-30 meter walk from the lagoon, the Garden Units are arranged in blocks of three and are ideal for couples or families, offering either a queen bed or a combination of a queen and bunk-style beds. Each unit features polished timber floors, ensuite bathrooms and a balcony set amongst the resort gardens to make the most of the resort views. The units are fan cooled and have a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Reef Unit:

Located approximately 10 meters from the beautiful coral cay lagoon, the Reef Units are the closest resort rooms to the beachfront dining room. Arranged in blocks of three, they are ideal for couples or families, offering either a queen bed or a combination of a queen and bunk-style beds. Each unit features polished timber floors, ensuite bathrooms and a balcony to make the most of the island surrounds. The units are fan cooled and have a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

Glamping Tent:

Only meters from the lagoon, immerse yourself in these exclusive and spacious Glamping Tents, set amongst the native coral cay vegetation. Glass sliding doors open up to a large deck, where you can enjoy the surrounding environment including nesting seabirds (in season) and nesting turtles (in season). The Glamping Tents accommodate up to two adults (queen bed) and are ideal for couples with an ensuite and private balcony. Each tent is fan cooled with a mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.

2 Bedroom Beachfront Unit:

Offering absolute beach frontage, the spacious two-bedroom Beachfront Units accommodate up to four people and feature a separate air-conditioned lounge room and private bathroom. The two-bedroom Beachfront Units have a private balcony surrounded by the island’s native flora. Each unit has a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave. In season, Red-tailed Tropicbirds and Green and Loggerhead turtles nest (at your doorstep) providing an immersive nature-based experience.
