We're bringing back a little bit of that '80s charm this November, when our dedicated group of over-60 travellers gets together on Great Keppel. This unique holiday is combines laid-back beach getaway with some fun-filled nostalgia events.

The days are yours to relax, explore this beautiful island at leisure, and make new friends with like-minded travellers.

Each night we'll unwind with some unique 1980s-style festivities. The first night we'll put our knowledge and memories to the test with an '80s trivia night. The second night is the main event: a gala dinner hosted by our resident DJ Adrian, with wine, music, dancing, and prizes for the best dressed!

    Friday 04 November 2022

    Make your way to Rosslyn Bay, approximately 50km from Rockhampton Airport.

    12:30pm meet the Travel at 60 team at the Keppel Bay Marina ready to board the ferry to Great Keppel Island.

    1pm depart for Great Keppel Island.

    1:30pm arrive on the island. This afternoon you are free to explore the island, snorkel or swim in the ocean or meet up with new friends under the marquee to relax, play cards, play board games or read a book. This time is yours, you've earned this idyllic island getaway.

    This evening join the Travel at 60 group for a welcome BBQ dinner before putting your '80s knowledge to the test with a night of trivia (including prizes for the winners!)

    We recommend starting your day with a walk along the beach, a refreshing swim, or a group yoga class.

    Enjoy breakfast as you plan out your day.

    Today is a great opportunity to enjoy some of the many water sports and activities available on the island (hire fee not included).

    Enjoy breakfast, pack up your gear and say goodbye over a leisurely breakfast, and enjoy a laid-back final morning before your 2pm ferry departure for Keppel Bay Marina. (Earlier departures are available if required)

Accommodation

Great Keppel Island Hideaway offers a range of accommodation to suit all budgets.

Island Cabins - offer basic self-catering accommodation, with separate ensuite/bathroom with shower, basin, toilet and towels. The cabins include a full-sized fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave, electric fry pan and dinning table and chairs (or picnic table & chairs outside). All cabins include air-conditioning.

Garden Rooms - Ensuite Motel Style - are located a short walk to Putney Beach, all equipped with air- conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities including a small fridge.

Palm Rooms - these motel style ensuite rooms are all air-conditioned with tea/coffee making facilities and small bar fridge.

Putney Place Studio - newly renovated rooms located a two minute walk to Putney Beach. Each room is equipped with a small kitchenette with basic cooking facilities and ensuite.

Please note that the resort does not supply toiletries other than a cake of soap. Linen is provided (pillows, sheets, blankets and bath towel), you just need to bring a beach towel.

Common questions about this voyage

Please note the resort does not supply toiletries other than a cake of soap. Linen is provided (pillows, sheets, blankets and bath towel), you just need to bring a beach towel. Getting there - finding your way to Great Keppel Island will take you through Rockhampton - the beef capital of Australia! Rocky is located approximately 45 minutes from Rosslyn Bay on the Capricorn Coast. Qantas and Virgin Australia fly into Rockhampton. Queensland Rail operate the Tilt Train to Rockhampton. Transfers are available from Rockhampton Airport and Rockhampton Rail Station with QC Connections. Taxi and Uber are also available in Rockhampton. Car Parking - If you are driving parking is available through GKI Security Car Parking 0488 004 785. The security car park runs a shuttle down to the ferry departure point. Luggage information When you arrive on Great Keppel Island, we will help you with your luggage from the ferry and take it to a baggage shed which is located around the accommodation. You will just need to walk a couple of minutes up the beach to our reception area. Please check-in with our reception team so they can run you through some information and show you where your luggage is. Luggage is fine to leave in the baggage shed till you check into your room. On departure, bring your luggage to reception and have a chat to our team so we can assist putting it in the correct bay. We will take your luggage to your departing ferry.
Willing to share:
One of the advantages of travelling on a Travel at 60 dedicated group departure is that we have the ability to match solo travellers, so that you they can avoid paying the single supplement. Subject to COVID-19 vaccination, availability of another traveller of the same gender willing to share.
