Day 1 - Monday
8:05am Depart Melbourne for Adelaide on The Overland.
There is nothing quite like travelling by rail, with a daylight service between two vibrant cities, enjoy a relaxing and unique journey, while savouring the creature comforts and romance of rail. For over 130 years, The Overland has been a fan favourite for people travelling between Melbourne and Adelaide.
On board, you’ll experience a comfortable journey as you watch the diverse landscapes outside your window, from rugged mallee scrub to fields of green and gold. Sit back and relax with more leg room, in-seat dining and a trolley service. Enjoy all-inclusive breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, coffee, soft drinks and juice. There’s no better way to make the day-long journey more enjoyable.
5:55pm Arrive in Adelaide and be transferred to your hotel for the next 3 nights.
Day 2 - Tuesday
Experience the cosmopolitan life of Adelaide on a half day tour, be introduced to this delightful city, which is surrounded by parklands with a blend of historic buildings, wide streets, cafés and restaurants.
Drive past Adelaide's cultural precinct - North Terrace, Adelaide Botanic Gardens and the beautiful Botanic Park, home to the Bicentennial Conservatory and the Adelaide Zoo. Continue through historic North Adelaide, where you’ll see tree-lined streets, mansions and historic buildings.
A stop will be made at the National Wine Centre of Australia, located on the edge of Adelaide’s stunning Botanic Gardens where you will have free time to explore the Wine Discovery Journey Museum. Your morning will also include a visit to the iconic St Peters Cathedral (subject to availability) or the newly developed Adelaide Oval precinct.
Your tour ends at approx. 1pm at the famous Adelaide Central Markets, with over 70 traders under one roof, the Market is one of the largest undercover fresh product markets in the Southern Hemisphere, buzzing with life and colour all year round you will be sure to find a treat or two for lunch.
The rest of the day is yours to explore Adelaide at your own leisure.
Day 3 – Wednesday
Enjoy a full day food and wine journey to South Australia’s premium wine region, the Barossa. Take time to sample some of the Barossa’s finest wines and gourmet food that makes this wine region so special. You will visit the new Barossa Valley Chocolate Company, the famous Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop and two award winning cellar doors. Return to your accommodation at approximately 5.30pm. This evening is at leisure.
Day 4 – Thursday
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before you check-out of the hotel and bid farewell to your fellow travellers.

Willing to share: One of the advantages of travelling on a Travel at 60 dedicated group departure is that we can match solo travellers, so that you they can avoid paying the single supplement. Subject to availability of another traveller of the same gender willing to share. Please note you will have to be fully vaccinated against Covid19.
