   Hello London

   London is yours to explore. You might watch red buses thread through the streets past royal palaces and grand museum doors. Then continue along the high street beside gleaming shop windows, your footsteps tapping across the pavement as cafe chatter slips through open doors. You may follow the scent of London’s kitchens towards dinner, from the warm spice of chicken tikka to the steam of chow mein or the sharp tang of vinegar over fish and chips.

   Discover London's Iconic Sites

   Your full free day in London lets the city reveal itself at your pace. You might spend it in the hush of a museum gallery, where polished floors carry soft footsteps and glass cases hold centuries of stories. You could feel the quiet thrill of a West End theatre as the lights dim and the room falls still, or ride the Tube between palaces and squares, its low rumble carrying you across the capital. Perhaps you’ll pause on one of London’s bridges and watch boats move along the Thames, the water shifting softly below.

   Across the Channel, into Paris

   Meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers before leaving London behind, the road carrying you through Kent’s green fields towards Dover. At the coast, the White Cliffs line the Channel in pale chalk, then soften into the distance as the ferry makes for Calais. Paris waits across the border. Once you arrive, you can let the boulevards lead you into the French capital, where cafe terraces spill onto pavements and evening light catches on the river. For a softer first meeting with the city, consider an Optional Experience along the Seine, watching bridges, lamps and waterside façades drift by.

   Paris Highlights: Champs Élysées and Eiffel Tower

   A panoramic drive led by your Travel Director takes you along the broad Champs-Élysées, past the carved stone of the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower with its iron frame rising above the rooftops. The afternoon is yours to spend as you please. Perhaps it’s with the thick crust of a baguette torn on a park bench, soft cheese wrapped in paper and a glass of wine as leaves move overhead. You may choose an Optional Experience with a Local Specialist in Montmartre, where cobbles climb towards artists’ squares and the scent of crêpes drifts from corner stalls. This evening, Paris turns up the theatre with an Optional Experience cabaret show, full of feathers, footlights and the quick rhythm of the French can-can.

   Journey from Burgundy to Lucerne Region

   Paris slips behind you as the journey moves through Burgundy, where vineyard slopes and wooded valleys stretch towards Switzerland. At Lucerne, water moves quietly beneath the 14th-century Chapel Bridge, its wooden beams leading across the Reuss River towards painted façades and mountain air. At the Lion Monument, you’ll stand before a solemn figure hewn from rock in honour of the Swiss Guards who died defending King Louis XVI. Later, you'll have time to browse for Swiss keepsakes or cross the Chapel Bridge at your own pace, with the river below and the Alps waiting beyond the rooftops.

   Alps to Lagoon: Lakes and Venice (Mestre)

   Ridgelines and valleys fall away as you travel down through Swiss mountain country towards the long sweep of the Gotthard Tunnel. Beyond it, Italy opens in the wide lakes and gentle shores. In Venice, the salt air of the lagoon drifts across worn quays and the Winged Lion of St Mark watches over the city. You might choose an Optional Experience by gondola, settling into the hush of the canals as the oar dips, bridges pass overhead and the city seems to float around you.

   Cruise to St. Mark’s Square, then onto Florence (Campi Bisenzio)

   A private launch carries you across the water to St Mark’s Square this morning. In Piazza San Marco, St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace look onto worn stone and shaded arcades as the low murmur of cafe voices echoes beneath the arches. As you enter a Venetian glassblowing workshop, the room is thick with furnace warmth and amber light as molten glass glows and artisans turn each softened piece with steady, practised hands. Later, you may choose an Optional Experience to Burano for a meal with drinks, where painted houses line narrow lanes beside the water and fishing boats rest close to shore. Or perhaps you will spend the afternoon wandering among Venice’s canals listening to its quiet ebb and flow before the journey continues to Florence.

   Florence to Rome: Renaissance and Craft

   In Florence, you move through colour as much as history: wine-soft shadows on pale stone, terracotta rooftops above narrow lanes and voices carrying between chapel walls and workshop doors. The Renaissance still flows through the city, from stone-fronted Medici palaces to carved marble, painted chapels and the lingering influence of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. You may browse for keepsakes, perhaps the glint of Florentine gold will catch your eye, or you’ll feel the smooth grain of leather beneath your fingertips, before the road carries you on to Rome.

   Vatican City to Ancient Rome

   Your Local Specialist guides you through Vatican City, where you move across St. Peter’s Square, its pale stone piazza stretching around you as the colonnades curve like the edge of a sundial. Ahead, the basilica’s great dome waits, immense and still. In Ancient Rome, you make your way among colossal remnants, where broken columns still tower above you and open arches cut against the sky. What remains is both ruin and majesty: rough stone, vast spaces and the impossible scale of an empire glimpsed in fragments. Later, explore at your own pace or choose an Optional Experience where generous plates carry the scent of simmered sauces, the lift of fresh herbs, silky richness and recipes that taste as though they’ve been stirred, shared and debated around family tables for generations.

    Arrivederci Rome

    Your tour comes to a close in Rome, where you say arrivederci to the travellers who have crossed Europe alongside you. Bags are lifted, final smiles exchanged and the small details of the journey leave with you.
