Day by day

Itinerary

  1. 1

    Arrive London

Your whirlwind journey through the Devon and Cornwall launches in its exhilarating capital. After checking in, explore this multicultural city your way, embracing all the pomp and pageantry of Britain’s capital. Visit one of the many museums that reveal the history and culture of the world, pay your respects to His Majesty or pop into your neighbourhood ‘local’ for a pint or two to kick-start your exploration of Southwest England in style.

  2. 2

    London - Windsor - Stonehenge - Devon

Meet your Travel Director this morning and hit the road through England’s rolling green countryside. First stop, Windsor, a historic market town packed with royal charm. Then it’s time for one of Britain’s biggest head-scratchers, Stonehenge. These mighty stones have been standing on Salisbury Plain for thousands of years and nobody knows exactly how or why they got there. Take your photos, soak up the mystery and let your imagination run wild. Later, travel to the seaside town of Paignton in Devon for a look around, before tucking into dinner with your Travel Director and fellow travellers this evening.

  3. 3

    Eden Project and St Ives

Leave the Devon coast behind for the day and head to the Eden Project, today’s MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. Visit the attraction’s famous biomes, where you can submerge yourself in the steamy rainforest and sun-loving Mediterranean plants, and see big planet-friendly ideas in action. You’ll also explore outdoor gardens, spot local species and discover how communities are finding clever ways to care for Mother Earth. Then it’s on to St. Ives, a coastal crowd-pleaser with serious charm. Think golden beaches, a working harbour, winding streets and a creative buzz that has kept artists coming back for generations.

  4. 4

Plymouth - Buckfast Abbey - Dartmoor National Park

Start your day in Plymouth your way. Fancy sea views and salty air? Join an optional cruise around the city’s dramatic coastline. Or, if you prefer to wander at your own pace, the morning is yours to explore. Later, buckle up for Dartmoor National Park, where wild moors, winding roads and a touch of mystery set the scene for an entertaining and panoramic drive. You’ll then head to Buckfast Abbey, where Benedictine monks have been living, working and praying for nearly 1,000 years. Peaceful, historic and seriously impressive, it’s a real step back in time. Take a moment to admire the abbey’s gardens, browse the shop and soak up the calm before returning to Paignton. This evening, keep the Devon vibes going with an optional traditional pub dinner in a local village. Think cozy setting, hearty food and good company.

  5. 5

Port Isaac - Tintagel - Bideford

Today you’ll head North through the gorgeous Devon and Cornish countryside. First up, Port Isaac, the charming fishing village you might recognise from TV show Doc Martin. Wander its narrow lanes, grab those harbour snaps and enjoy the full seaside-postcard moment. Then it’s on to Tintagel, where King Arthur legends, clifftop drama and Atlantic views all come together. Explore the village and look out for Tintagel Castle, perched high on the clifftops above the Atlantic. Why not choose to have your cake and eat it at an Optional Experience to a fishing village for a classic cream tea? Later, continue to Bideford, a historic riverside town where the evening is yours. Relax, roam or hunt down an interesting local spot for dinner.

  6. 6

Dunster - Lynmouth - Exmoor National Park

Start your day with a Travel Director-led orientation through Dunster, a medieval village with a big story to tell. Once a thriving monastery town, its historic lanes are packed with character, charm and centuries of local life. Then it’s time to explore your way. Wander at your own pace, find a lunch spot that takes your fancy or choose an Optional Experience to Dunster Castle and Gardens. Later, head to Lynmouth, known as the walking capital of Exmoor, for an orientation and time to look around. Soak up the wild beauty of Exmoor National Park as you drive past dramatic moors, deep valleys and rugged sea cliffs before dinner with your travel companions.

  7. 7

    Bideford - Bath - London

Cap off your adventure around Southwest England with a visit to beautiful Bath, a UNESCO-listed city and one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe. Spot the elegant Pulteney Bridge and the grand 15th-century abbey, then make the day your own. Fancy learning more about Bath’s polished facades? Join an optional Georgian walking tour and afternoon tea and learn about the city’s important place in history and high society. Then sit back, enjoy the open countryside views and journey on to London with a camera roll full of memories.

  8. 8

    Depart London

It’s time to close the curtain on your epic adventure across Southwest England. You’ll say a fond farewell to new friends as you prepare for your return journey home.

Travel at 60 Social Getaways

Travel further when you're not travelling alone

Our Social Getaways are small-group holidays designed especially for over-60s Australians who want the freedom of a great trip without the work of planning every detail. A Travel at 60 host travels with the group, the operator handles the logistics, and you get to focus on the bit that matters — the people, the places, and the stories you'll bring home.

Open to solo travellers too. Many of our travellers book on their own and find their feet quickly in a friendly group of like-minded Australians. Reduced single-supplement options are available on most departures — ask one of our consultants and we'll talk you through what's offered on this trip.

  • A friendly Travel at 60 host — an Australian face on the ground, looking out for the group from day one.
  • Curated local guides & boutique suppliers — the same operators we'd book for our own families.
  • Real itineraries, not whirlwind tours — comfortable transfers, breathing room, and the “off the beaten track” stops the big bus tours skip.

Want to talk it through? Call 1300 414 198 7 days a week, Queensland time, and one of our consultants will walk you through it.
