Day by day

Itinerary

  1. 1

    Explore Windsor, Stonehenge and Paignton

This morning, meet your Travel Director for a journey through lush landscapes to the historic market town of Windsor. Next, you’ll visit the ancient megaliths at Stonehenge, which rise imposingly on Salisbury Plain, imagining a time when pagans and druids would gather in their mysterious midst. Next, travel to Paignton, where you'll enjoy an orientation of the city. Join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for dinner this evening.

  2. 2

    Eden Project and St Ives

Leave the Devon coast behind and head to the Eden Project for a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience. Walk through the iconic biomes to see how nature and innovation come together to tackle global challenges. Explore the rainforest and Mediterranean environments, spot local plants in the outdoor gardens and discover how communities are creating a more sustainable future. You’ll also come across thought-provoking art and storytelling that brings the space to life. Then continue to the coastal town of St. Ives. With its working harbour, golden beaches and creative energy, it’s easy to see why it’s a favourite with artists and visitors alike.

  3. 3

Enjoy a visit to Buckfast Abbey and a Dartmoor Scenic Drive

This morning, consider an optional cruise around Plymouth's dramatic coastline or enjoy some free time exploring Plymouth your way. Continue to Buckfast Abbey where you’ll Dive into Culture and see where Benedictine monks have prayed for nearly 1,000 years. Next, enjoy Dartmoor National Park on a scenic drive across the mysterious moors. You can also opt to join a traditional pub dinner in a Devonshire village.

  4. 4

    Tintagel

Leave Paignton behind and journey north through the scenic Devon and Cornish countryside. Make a stop in Port Isaac, a fishing village made famous by the TV series Doc Martin, with time to explore its narrow streets and harbour. Then continue to the village of Tintagel—steeped in legend as the birthplace of King Arthur. You’ll have time to explore the town and spot Tintagel Castle in the distance, perched dramatically on the clifftops above the Atlantic. Then continue on to Bideford, a historic riverside town where the evening is yours to relax or explore at your own pace.

  5. 5

    Visit Lynmouth

Begin your day with a Travel Director-led orientation through the medieval village of Dunster, once a thriving monastery town. Wander its historic lanes and learn how centuries of history have shaped its character. You may also choose an Optional Experience inside Dunster Castle, exploring the Victorian kitchens, servants’ quarters and family rooms behind the estate’s grand facade. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore and find lunch your way. Later, visit Lynmouth, the walking capital of Exmoor, where you’ll have an orientation and time to explore. Continue the drive through Exmoor National Park, taking in dramatic moors, valleys and sea cliffs before joining your travel companions for dinner this evening.

  6. 6

    Onwards to Bath and London

Visit the UNESCO-listed city of Bath, one of the Great Spa Towns of Europe. See the Pulteney Bridge, the 15th-century abbey and the Roman Baths, where you’ll learn how people once gathered around the thermal springs. Later, head to Stowford Manor Farm in the Frome Valley for your Be My Guest experience. Join Mr and Mrs Bryant in their farmhouse for homemade scones and tea served with local Jersey cream. Continue your journey to London through open countryside, bringing your trip through Devon and Cornwall to a close.

Travel at 60 Social Getaways

Travel further when you're not travelling alone

Our Social Getaways are small-group holidays designed especially for over-60s Australians who want the freedom of a great trip without the work of planning every detail. A Travel at 60 host travels with the group, the operator handles the logistics, and you get to focus on the bit that matters — the people, the places, and the stories you'll bring home.

Open to solo travellers too. Many of our travellers book on their own and find their feet quickly in a friendly group of like-minded Australians. Reduced single-supplement options are available on most departures — ask one of our consultants and we'll talk you through what's offered on this trip.

  • A friendly Travel at 60 host — an Australian face on the ground, looking out for the group from day one.
  • Curated local guides & boutique suppliers — the same operators we'd book for our own families.
  • Real itineraries, not whirlwind tours — comfortable transfers, breathing room, and the “off the beaten track” stops the big bus tours skip.

Want to talk it through? Call 1300 414 198 7 days a week, Queensland time, and one of our consultants will walk you through it.
