Day by day

Itinerary

  1. 1

    Welcome to Warsaw

Connect with Warsaw’s steadfast spirit – a city rebuilt from the ashes of World War II. After checking in this afternoon, relax and unwind or take a stroll through the city. This afternoon meet your fellow travellers and Travel Director at the hotel.

  2. 2

    Discover Historic Warsaw

This morning, embark on an in-depth guided sightseeing tour with a Local Specialist. See the iconic Palace of Culture and Science, and walk through the Old Town to gain a deeper understanding of how the city was rebuilt after the devastation of the Second World War. Later, you could choose to join an Optional Experience to Warsaw’s Praga district, including a guided visit to the Vodka Museum, tastings of local delicacies, and a scenic drive through the city’s illuminated landmarks.

  3. 3

    Onwards to Coastal Gdańsk

Head north through rolling farmland to the historic port city of Gdańsk. On the way, stop at a small organic farm for your Be My Guest experience with your host Marcin, who’ll share his cider over seasonal lunch made with local ingredients. Arriving in Gdańsk, you’ll have the evening free to explore the Old Town or relax. Alternatively, perhaps join an Optional Experience to the Amber Museum and St. Bridget’s Church, ending with a walk along the embankment to see Gdańsk illuminated at night.

  4. 4

    Gdańsk Your Way

Start the day with sightseeing of the old town with your Local Specialist. Dive into Culture during a visit to the European Solidarity Centre which reveals the history of Solidarity, the Polish trade union and civil resistance movement. The rest of your day is free to explore Gdansk on your terms. Admire the architecture in the historic Long Market and wander down Long Lane to Golden Gate, or consider joining an Optional Experience to visit Malbork Castle, founded by the Teutonic Order of Knights in 1274. Tonight, dinner is served at your hotel.

  5. 5

Journey to Toruń and Cultural Wrocław

You’ll join your Local Specialist for a sightseeing tour that will reveal the city’s Leaning Tower, the house of famed astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus and among other key attractions. Continue to Wrocław, a former European 'Capital of Culture'. Tonight, enjoy dinner at your hotel.

  6. 6

    Explore Wrocław

This morning, join your Local Specialist on a guided tour of the city. Discover its complex history and see some of its most important sites, including Wrocław Cathedral, the Main Market Square, Old Town Hall and Salt Square, a former medieval marketplace and today, a flower market. Dive into Culture and visit the Baroque ceremonial hall of Aula Leopoldina at Wrocław University. Visit the oldest confectionery in Wrocław on a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience where tradition is cherished. This small and ancient bakery is home to a mouth-watering treat. In the afternoon, consider joining an Optional Experience to Książ Castle and UNESCO-listed Świdnica Church of Peace.

  7. 7

    Venture to Auschwitz and Zakopane

Your journey this morning takes you to the former concentration camp at Auschwitz, a poignant reminder of the horrors perpetrated during the Holocaust. Continue to the foot of the Carpathians, which stretch across Central Europe. For the next two nights, you’ll warm up at your Stays With Stories accommodation, the Hotel Nosalowy Dwór, nestled right next to the stunning high peaks of the Tatra Mountains. You’ll soon discover why the resort is said to be the perfect place to rest and recharge as you soak up the breathtaking mountain views and a direct neighbour to the Tatra National Park.

  8. 8

Goral Life in the Tatra Mountains

Spend the day your way in Zakopane. Take a relaxed stroll along Krupowki Street or browse Highlander markets for hand-crafted goods and smoked cheese. Or choose from a selection of Optional Experiences to discover more of this mountain gem. You could opt to ride the cable car up Kasprowy Wierch with a Local Specialist for views across the Polish and Slovakian Tatras. Learn about the region’s distinctive wooden architecture on an optional tour with a Local Specialist.

  9. 9

    Continue to Kraków

Travel to Kraków where you will enjoy views of the Royal Castle and Cathedral on Wawel Hill during your tour with a Local Specialist. Your walking tour through the Old Town includes a visit to the Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Church. This evening, perhaps sample some lively Polish entertainment with dinner.

  10. 10

    Kraków Your Way

Consider joining an Optional Experience to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, renowned as the Underground Salt Cathedral of Poland and home to an entire chapel carved from rock salt, as well as dozens of sculptures. The rest of the day is yours to explore the sights on your own. Enjoy a slice of Polish Sernik Babci on the Old Town Square, or perhaps visit a traditional Communist era milk bar?

  11. 11

    Farewell Warsaw

Say farewell to your travel companions and Travel Director at the end of a wonderful holiday. Your complimentary coach transfer will first drop guests at Kraków Airport before continuing to Warsaw for your final drop-off.

Travel at 60 Social Getaways

Travel further when you're not travelling alone

Our Social Getaways are small-group holidays designed especially for over-60s Australians who want the freedom of a great trip without the work of planning every detail. A Travel at 60 host travels with the group, the operator handles the logistics, and you get to focus on the bit that matters — the people, the places, and the stories you'll bring home.

Open to solo travellers too. Many of our travellers book on their own and find their feet quickly in a friendly group of like-minded Australians. Reduced single-supplement options are available on most departures — ask one of our consultants and we'll talk you through what's offered on this trip.

  • A friendly Travel at 60 host — an Australian face on the ground, looking out for the group from day one.
  • Curated local guides & boutique suppliers — the same operators we'd book for our own families.
  • Real itineraries, not whirlwind tours — comfortable transfers, breathing room, and the “off the beaten track” stops the big bus tours skip.

Want to talk it through? Call 1300 414 198 7 days a week, Queensland time, and one of our consultants will walk you through it.
