Day 3 - Thursday 24 April 2025 -Colleen McCullough tour

This morning embark on the Colleen McCullough tour. Colleen McCullough is a world-renowned author of 24 books, and called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. She and husband, Norfolk Islander Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and created some of her most powerful titles in this much-loved sanctuary. Be escorted through her magnificent home “Out Yenna” and view a priceless collection of artefacts. If you have read her amazing books, you will love the experience of sharing the world of Colleen McCullough.

Come along on a tour which explains how the idyllic characteristics of Norfolk Island have been challenged and changed by the events of World War II. Your guide will explain the social impact when the major male component of the community joined the fighting forces and departed the island's shores for the duration of the war years. Have explained the equal impact of defense troops being posted to the island. Hear about the wartime construction of the Norfolk Island airport, the destruction of a mile long avenue of mature island pines and the loss of island homes, all to make way for the airport product.
